Background: |
A two-dimensional picture has to be larger than life if it is to evoke a response from four of our senses. You can almost touch, smell and taste a good photograph of food or drink. The aim is to prepare the best possible ingredients, place them in an appealing setting, zoom close to show every pore and drop of detail, and light the subject to bring out its texture and color. Soft, diffused overhead lighting makes food look natural, and is a good starting point for experimentation. Carefully chosen props such as herbs and spices, cutlery and condiments enhance a display of food and drink. Fruit can be made appetizingly moist by brushing it with glycerin or spraying it with a fine water spray.
