The following requirements conditions of entry apply to each specific Division as indicated. Click on Print, Slide, or Digital as appropriate.
Print |
- All prints submitted in competition must be made from negatives, transparencies, or digital images (either by means of a digital camera or a scanned image). All printing and print enhancing including retouching must be the work of the maker, or if done by an outside lab, under the instruction of the maker. Digital prints must have been processed and printed either by means of a personal printer, whether controlled by a computer or directly attached to a digital camera, or sent to an outside lab for printing purposes only.
- The image size must be a minimum of 7 x 9 inches and a maximum of 16 x 20 inches. There are no restrictions on outside borders included in the image (entrants are cautioned, however, that images with large or elaborate borders often do not fare well in competition). Prints must be mounted on a rigid 16 x 20 inches mountboard of any color. A single optional overmat is permitted.
- Prints must be received no later than 6:15 pm on the day of the competition. However, to be accepted for entry, a completed entry form must be received no later than 3 full days prior to the competition.
- Prints must be identified on the back of each entry with a label. The label will be provided by the Competition Chair at the start of the Competition Meeting.
- Digital versions of prints that win Honorable Mentions or Excellence Awards should be submitted for post-competition posting on the Club website. Click here to download information on how to make this possible.

Digital
|
- Digital images should be submitted in jpeg format. The longest dimension of the image should not exceed 1024 pixels including any borders used to surround the image. Click here to download information on how to achieve this.
- Submission Deadline:
Images to be entered into digital competition should be emailed as attachments to digital@cvdcc.org together with the completed entry form no later than midnight three full days preceding the competition. Thus, if a competition is to be held on Tuesday, March 25 (an invented date), entries should be received no later than 11:59 pm on Friday, March 21. Late images will be rejected.
- Covering Email:
Each image submitted and the completed entry form can be attached to a separate email or several images can be attached to the same email.
The subject line of the email should contain (a) the month of the competition, and (b) a list of all the competitions for which there are attached images. Thus, for example:
Subject: March, 2007: Open, Creative, Nature
- Attached Images/Files
The filename of the attached image should be the Member number of the entrant, the Member’s initials, and the actual Title of the image all separated by underscores. It should contain no other information. The first letter of each word (including minor words) should be capitalized: the rest of each word should be in lower case. Thus, for example:
364_AA_The Rain In Spain
The format of the attached image should be a JPEG format (that is, a .jpg file). Entrants are welcome to select the highest quality allowed.
The size of the attached image should be such that the longest dimension does not exceed 1024 pixels. See Appendix on how to achieve this requirement.
- Entries that do not conform to the above will be rejected (particularly if submitted close to deadline so there is no time to iterate with the entrant).
