This is the second time around with photography for Sidney Weiss but he thinks that this time it might stick.

Sidney started right out with a 35mm film camera in the 70’s doing black and white photography.  He stayed with it for about 10 years but then just lost interest.

His life changed when in 1999 he moved from the San Fernando Valley to the Coachella Valley.  He began taking more time off from his profession as a CPA, started to ride a bike, and rediscovered photography.  Deciding to begin with the basics, he signed up for digital courses at the College of the Desert.  Now enrolled in his second class he feels he is receiving a good introduction to photography in general.  One of his favorite areas is photojournalism.

He sees the camera club as supplementing and expanding his knowledge by answering questions and benefiting from the experience of others.  Comments of judges are especially useful.  Now that photography is holding his interest, Sid finds himself aiming for pictures which will work for the categories in our next competitions. Right now he is shooting with a Pentax digital but is thinking of upgrading to a Canon or Nikon soon.
