Rejoined as a member: February 25, 2003

Carol Davis first came to our club in 1989 when meetings were held in a bank, joined in 1995 and was the club secretary. For the last few years she has been in and out of the group because of work conflicts, but is now retired.

She was able to take pictures and learn about photography at an early age because her father was in the Navy.  At age 7 he bought her a Ricohflex and as the family moved across the U.S. she was able to photograph Grant’s tomb, National parks and many places we’ve only heard about.  Five years later they lived in the Marshall Islands and she took photo lab classes so she could develop her own pictures.

Davis is a licensed barber, earned a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and now that she has retired after 15 years at the Betty Ford Center, enjoys golfing and computers.

She has never entered our monthly competitions but won two Riverside County competitions for calendar photographs.  Her favorite subjects are desert flowers and Colorado flowers.

“I’m not a competitive person, but I like being around like-minded people,” she said.  “I enjoy listening and learning at the meetings.”

She has two Minoltas, just inherited a number of Nikons, uses a Sony digital and is in the process of purchasing a Canon Digital Rebel.
