You wouldn’t think a rugged construction guy would be the type to win photography awards but Lonnie Scott is just such a man. Lonnie has been interested in photography since high school when he started learning on his father’s old Nikon with its rangefinder (a camera he still uses for black and white photography). He has never had any formal instruction but has taken advantage of every opportunity he sees coming. Right now he is midway through the by-mail program offered by The New York Institute of Photography. He estimates that he has about a year more to go but has learned a great deal so far.
Lonnie has also been active in S4C competitions, is a member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), and has participated in international competitions. He finds many subjects intriguing and his interests in photography are wide. He uses a Canon 5D camera and an Epson stylus pro 4000 printer.
Lonnie is a native Californian. He has lived in the Coachella Valley for 5 years after moving here from south Orange County. He has been in construction for 35 years all over the state of California. He is the senior building inspector for a private firm doing the inspections for the Agua Caliente who are building a hotel and theater in Rancho Mirage. He is married with 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
